Qualifications & Training
Lisa completed a double degree in Arts and Science, with Honours in Psychology before completing a Master of Counselling Psychology at La Trobe University. She is a fully registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Lisa began her training as a telephone support worker at Women’s Information Referral Exchange. In this role she provided support, information and referrals to women in need, in particular those experiencing family violence. Following this, she completed placements in tertiary settings before moving to a community health role in which she worked with men and women on a wide range of issues from anxiety and depression through to assertiveness training and managing difficult relationships. Lisa also has experience working as a perinatal counsellor, which involves providing counselling in relation to pregnancy options, as well as support for new parents experiencing postnatal depression or difficulties in adjusting to life with a newborn baby.
Therapeutic Approach / Area of Expertise
Lisa works individually with adults with a range of presenting concerns, including domestic/ family violence, perinatal (pregnancy) support, drug and alcohol issues (with a special interest in crystal methamphetamine addiction), grief and loss, issues relating to life transition and adjustment, and women wishing to make pregnancy-related decisions.
Lisa believes that a collaborative relationship is the foundation of successful therapy. This means that she takes a holistic, person-centred approach to counselling that recognises the client is the expert of their own history. As a client, she will assist you to recognise and summon your own unique strengths and resiliency, in order to facilitate change. With this aim, Lisa draws from a variety of evidence-based therapies in her work, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.

Appointments with Lisa can be booked through our online booking system.
Lisa provides Medicare rebates of $84.80 per session. You need to obtain a referral from your GP to be eligible for this rebate. If you have a private health insurance with extras, you may be able to claim through it (without a GP referral).
