Therapeutic Approach / Area of Expertise

Shayne has trained in a variety of different therapeutic approaches, and is committed to keeping up to date with new innovations in psychotherapy practice. As an integrative therapist, Shayne's approach is strongly underpinned by her training in psychodynamic theory (Object Relations) and practice, and central concepts from Schema Therapy, Transference Focused Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy, and attachment-based frameworks that emphasize the development of a strong therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for change. Where needed, she incorporates frameworks that offer practical skill learning, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

Shayne is particularly interested in helping her clients explore how earlier relationships and experiences influence the in the present. Therapeutically, Shayne works with her clients to identify and resolve unhelpful life patterns and deeply rooted emotional themes that restrict their personal growth, self-compassion, and fulfilling emotional connection to others. Her aim is to provide an attentive and collaborative space in which these patterns can be examined and respectfully challenged, in order to make room for uncovering new capacities and possibilities, and shaping new goals for health and well-being.
